In their study at University of California at Los Angeles published in the journal Psychosomatics, investigators Dr. Felipe Jain and his colleagues evaluated the evidence regarding the effect of meditation on individuals suffering from clinical depression. They found that meditation therapies may have helpful effects on patients having clinical depressive disorders during the acute and subacute phases of treatment. They recommended large-scale, randomized controlled trials to clarify the role of meditation in the treatment of this illness.
